Blackfish
The documentary that I decided to watch was an 83 minute documentary called Blackfish, which centered on the treatment of killer whales. I had very mixed thoughts on this documentary because so many different viewpoints were given throughout the documentary. I chose to take this picture and analyze it because it gave many different peoples thoughts after the death of a killer whale trainer. After the death of this trainer the OSHA sued Sea World on the grounds that it is unsafe to put humans into tanks with killer whales. During these short clips in the documentary you can see that the news stations and experts said that this death would greatly effect Sea World and that they should completely take away the killer whale shows. On the other hand many trainers have very close bonds to these animals and the say that they have the best relationships possible with the whales. These trainers know what they are getting into and they still go out and do their job everyday. In my opinion if these trainers feel safe and secure with their everyday job they should be able to go out and do it. While doing any job there is a chance of a fatal injury, just because of a few instances where animals attack trainers reporters begin to act as if this is the only way to be injured during a job.
