Poodle Doodle

I watched the Poodle Trainer documentary which was about a lady who grew up wanting to join the circus and train dogs. She accomplished both of these things and is very successful. She is very happy with her life at the moment and could not ask for more. I did not like this documentary very much because instead of feeling bad for the lady, she kind of creeped me out. Just like in the reading, there was music playing during this documentary to make it seem for suspenseful and exciting than it actually was. The lady also gave a sob story to try to bring herself closer to the audience but I personally do not think it worked very well. Documentaries search to tell a story, sometimes educational or sometimes just for fun. This one definitely was more just for fun as the lady had nothing too important to share with the world. She told us about how her mother gave her a dog only to give it away because she could not train it. She said that to this day she still does not forgive her mother. This line here was meant to draw the audience in onto the lady’s point of view by making us feel bad that her first dog could not be trained. They then gently strode away from this viewpoint to why she is happy in life. She said it was because her life was just how she had pictured it. In the reading article it pointed out how most documentaries also used personal interviews to make them seem like they are much more trustworthy. This one had interviews so the lady could express more about her life. The emotional rollercoaster of documentaries definitely took its toll here when it went from  being sad about her first dog to being so happy about her life. This documentary pretty much used the same format as many documentaries where there are live accounts of what the person does followed by a self monologue or interview. This crazy dog lady is the main character in a fairly drab documentary. They gave information without supporting evidence so perhaps they were making it up just for the audience. However, maybe it was too tragic to talk about or she didn’t speak enough English to get her point across. The lead of this documentary is leading a happy life because she followed her dreams and think that is the main point of this video, to show people they can achieve what they want.
