The frame of
the movie that I chose to analyze was when a former Sea World trainer is being
interviewed. He is talking about what happened when they separated the baby
whale from its mom. This is a very sad and intense scene. It depicts how horrible
it was to watch the mom whale stay in the corner of the pool crying out for her
baby. They were able to intensify this scene by how they shot it as well. They
places the person being interviewed on the side of the screen. The slight angle
they filmed it at depicted him having a conversation with the interviewer even
though he was the only one talking. The closeness of the shot showed the importance
of the subject. They also blurred out the background behind the person being
interviewed. This causes the viewer to focus all of their attention on the
person and what they are saying.
